A layer of mulch will help conserve soil moisture for your plants.

Make sure your trees and shrubs get an inch of water per week.

Do not prune your woody plants any more this year until after frost.

Stop fertilizing trees and shrubs so they can harden off in time for the winter. You can resume fertilizing late fall.

August 15th through September 15th is the best time of the year for seeding or sodding a lawn. Stop by Hawks for all the supplies and professional advice.

Plant lettuce, spinach, radishes and peas for fall harvest.

Continue to water and fertilize annuals and vegetables.

Cut flowers and herbs for drying.

Start dividing and transplanting perennials in the middle of the month.
